A law firm in Omaha is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney to join their team. The candidate will play a crucial role in advising clients on a wide range of environmental matters, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, permitting, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Strong communication and writing skills are essential for interfacing with colleagues, clients, and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school, bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and a minimum of 5 years of environmental law experience in both the public and private sectors. A portable business is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to clients on environmental law matters.
  • Advise on issues related to mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, tax credits, and financing transactions.
  • Assist clients with permitting processes for stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Advise on risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Handle matters related to emerging contaminants and renewable energy projects.
  • Draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.
  • Interface with colleagues across offices and practice groups, as well as directly engage with clients.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Experience with federal environmental laws and standards (CERCLA, NEPA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, CWA, CAA).
  • Transactional experience in environmental law.
  • Familiarity with state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with pollution legal liability insurance and prior defense sites preferred.
  • Portable business preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
