A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Mid-level Information Governance/ Data Strategy Attorney to join its team. The candidate will play a crucial role in assisting clients with the development of information governance programs and ensuring compliance with domestic and global regulations. The candidate will also be responsible for conducting IG maturity assessments, providing guidance on information governance issues, and coordinating regulatory assessments. The role involves a combination of legal expertise, project management, and effective communication skills. The Mid-level Information Governance/ Data Strategy Attorney will be responsible for assisting clients in developing and implementing information governance programs, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The role requires expertise in data strategy, legal analysis, and effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders.

 

Duties:

  • Drafting policies and procedures for information governance programs.
  • Preparing and vetting retention schedules and supporting program implementation.
  • Providing guidance on domestic and global information governance issues, including litigation preparedness and defensible disposition.
  • Conducting IG maturity assessments, developing assessment tools, and formulating risk mitigation strategies.
  • Performing horizon scanning and preparing updates on legislative, regulatory, and enforcement activities affecting clients' data management practices.
  • Coordinating global and domestic regulatory assessments, overseeing international counsel, summarizing findings, and developing heat maps.
  • Reviewing and revising data flows, sales FAQs, and marketing collateral for technology solutions.
  • Customizing and presenting IG training for various business audiences.
  • Effectively communicating, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
  • Producing deliverables, answering phone calls, and replying to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner.
  • Providing timely, accurate, and quality work products.
  • Successfully meeting deadlines and expectations and performing work duties as required.
  • Fostering positive work relationships.
  • Complying with all firm policies and practices.
  • Performing all other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience with expertise in serving clients across various sectors.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Superior analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • J.D. degree.
  • Admitted to practice in DC.

 

Experience:

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience to join its FDA Regulatory group.

 

Skills:

  • Legal analysis and drafting.
  • Project management.

  • Communication (verbal and written).
  • Time management and multitasking.
