A law firm is seeking an ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate Attorney for their office in Bridgewater, NJ. The candidate will primarily be responsible for:

Job Overview: The ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate Attorney will provide comprehensive legal counsel to individuals and plan sponsors on ERISA and tax implications concerning various employment-based agreements, defined benefit and contribution plans, deferred compensation arrangements, severance benefits, and other compensation arrangements. The role involves implementing and terminating plans and representing clients before the IRS and DOL.

Duties:

  • Counsel individuals and plan sponsors on ERISA and tax implications of employment-based agreements
  • Advise on defined benefit and contribution plans, deferred compensation arrangements, severance benefits, and other compensation arrangements
  • Implement and terminate plans as per legal requirements
  • Represent clients before the IRS and DOL in ERISA-related matters

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of high-quality experience in ERISA/employee benefits matters
  • Juris Doctorate Degree
  • Bar admission in the state of New Jersey
  • Experience in arrangements maintained by higher education facilities and tax-exempt organizations
  • Experience dealing directly with clients

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree
  • LLM in Taxation (a plus)

Skills:

  • Excellent contract drafting skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
