A law firm located in Charlotte is seeking a Senior Claims Counsel with at least 5 years of experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving liability insurance claims, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze liability, damages, coverage, and develop resolution strategies.

 

Duties:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve liability insurance claims by reviewing claim notices, incident reports, correspondence, and other technical documents.
  • Analyze liability exposure, damages, and coverage to develop effective resolution strategies.
  • Establish and maintain claim reserves in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage and coordinate litigation by hiring defense counsel and required experts, reviewing draft pleadings, litigation plans, budgets, and invoices.
  • Document all contacts, communications, claim transactions, and maintain electronic claim files.
  • Participate in mediations of claims and client visits, with some travel required.
  • Prepare reports to management, clients, and other designated recipients, demonstrating strong writing skills.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar licensing is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in investigating, evaluating, and resolving liability insurance claims.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate litigation, including hiring defense counsel and experts.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required for claim mediations and client visits.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
