Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of expertise in privacy and cybersecurity laws. This role offers flexibility in location with a preference for candidates in Chicago or Dallas. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both litigation, especially in privacy and class action cases, as well as transactional work such as vendor agreements and business customer service contracts. Candidates should have in-depth knowledge of federal and state privacy laws and a strong background in compliance, breach response, and risk management.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity regulations
  • Handle privacy-related litigation, including class action cases
  • Draft, review, and negotiate vendor agreements and business customer service contracts
  • Provide support for breach response, risk management, and compliance counseling
  • Stay current with developments in privacy laws and regulations
  • Work collaboratively with senior partners and clients on privacy and cybersecurity issues
  • Participate in business development and client relationship management
  • Contribute to thought leadership and industry insights on data privacy matters

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong background in both privacy litigation and transactional legal work
  • Expertise in state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and other related regulations
  • Experience with breach response, risk management, and compliance counseling
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex matters and handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is a plus but not required

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of data privacy and cybersecurity laws
  • Strong experience in both litigation and transactional legal matters
  • Skilled in negotiation, drafting, and client counseling
  • Proficient in managing data breach response and compliance
  • Excellent communication, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple client matters in a fast-paced environment
