Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Los Angeles, CA, is actively seeking an experienced Staff Attorney to join their litigation team. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to handle complex consumer financial services litigation matters on behalf of financial institutions. The position will primarily focus on litigation and settlement processes under the supervision of senior partners.

Duties:

  • Oversee day-to-day management of litigation and arbitration cases.

  • Review and manage litigation correspondence and pleadings.

  • Report time-sensitive issues to supervising partners.

  • Maintain and manage litigation calendars to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Conduct document reviews and oversee local counsel.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.

  • Communicate regularly with opposing counsel to negotiate and finalize settlements.

  • Prepare client settlement recommendations and draft settlement agreements.

  • Attend court hearings and arbitration proceedings as required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in litigation.

  • Demonstrated experience handling consumer financial services litigation.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to manage opposing counsel interactions.

  • Experience in arbitration matters with institutions such as JAMS or AAA.

  • Expertise in defending financial institutions or commercial clients against consumer protection, banking, and privacy law violations.

  • Previous experience in bankruptcy court, including adversary proceedings, is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Membership in the local State Bar, active and in good standing, is required.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft legal documents effectively.

  • Ability to multitask and handle competing priorities efficiently.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time-sensitive matters.
