Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled and experienced Private Equity and Mergers and Acquisitions Associate Attorney to join their team in New York City. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience representing private equity sponsors and various companies in complex transactions, along with a strong academic background and prior law firm experience.

Duties:

  • Represent private equity sponsors and private/public companies in mergers and acquisitions and other investment transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate transaction documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Manage deal teams, coordinating with internal and external specialists to facilitate seamless transactions.
  • Lead deal teams when necessary, providing guidance and direction throughout the process.
  • Oversee signing and closing processes to ensure efficient and timely completion of transactions.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in private equity and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Proven track record of successfully handling complex transactions.
  • Stellar academic credentials from a reputable institution.
  • Comparable law firm experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legal principles and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or willingness to become admitted).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating legal documents.
  • Leadership abilities to effectively manage deal teams.
  • Analytical skills to assess risks and develop strategies.
  • Collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
