Job Title: Employment Practice Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Columbia, SC, is seeking a seasoned legal professional to head its Employment Law Practice. This opportunity is ideal for a mid-to-senior level attorney with a demonstrated background in employment and labor matters, who is looking to independently lead and expand a practice area. The ideal candidate will bring entrepreneurial energy, a strategic mindset, and a partial or complete client base, along with a collaborative approach to growth. Opportunities to onboard additional team members may also be discussed.

Duties:

  • Direct and manage the firm’s employment law practice

  • Cultivate new business relationships and maintain existing client engagements

  • Represent clients in employment-related litigation and advisory matters

  • Leverage technology to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency

  • Collaborate with leadership on firm-wide strategy related to labor and employment offerings

  • Supervise and potentially integrate additional legal staff or associates into the practice

Requirements:

  • 10-25 years of legal practice with a focus on employment and labor law

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a client base

  • Prior experience in business development and client retention

  • Willingness to lead a standalone practice within a full-service firm

  • Existing client portfolio or book of business (partial or full)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Admission to the South Carolina Bar (or eligibility for admission)

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Proficiency with legal technology tools and practice management systems

  • Client-focused with high standards of professionalism and ethics
