Job Overview

A respected labor and employment law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join its Columbia, South Carolina office. The position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of employment litigation matters, including handling cases from inception through resolution. While prior employment law experience is preferred, candidates with strong defense-side complex litigation experience are encouraged to apply, especially those eager to develop a focus in labor and employment law.

Location

  • Columbia, South Carolina

Duties

  • Manage employment litigation matters from start to finish

  • Draft and respond to pleadings and discovery

  • Prepare and argue motions in state and federal court

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Represent clients in mediations, hearings, and trials

  • Provide strategic litigation counsel to clients

  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff on case development

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of litigation experience, ideally in employment or complex commercial litigation

  • Strong command of litigation procedures and rules

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with depositions, motions, and trials

  • Client-focused approach with a commitment to service and results

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the South Carolina Bar or sufficient UBE scores for admission

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and analytical abilities

  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • High attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset
