A law firm in Washington, DC is actively seeking a Closed-End Funds Associate Attorney with a focus on registered investment companies, particularly closed-end investment companies. The ideal candidate should have significant expertise in the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act, with knowledge of rules applicable to closed-end investment companies under federal securities laws and relevant exchanges. Experience with exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, and/or commodities work is a plus.

 

Duties:

  • Apply extensive knowledge of the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act to legal matters.
  • Provide legal advice on closed-end investment companies, with a focus on listed funds.
  • Ensure compliance with federal securities laws and rules of relevant exchanges.
  • Handle legal matters related to exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, and commodities (if applicable).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to address legal issues in the investment funds industry.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry developments.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of experience working with registered investment companies, specifically closed-end investment companies.
  • Significant expertise in the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
  • Knowledge of rules applicable to closed-end investment companies under federal securities laws and relevant exchanges.
  • Experience with exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, and/or commodities (preferred).
  • Large law firm, in-house, or regulatory agency experience is preferred.

 

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
  • Expertise in closed-end investment companies, particularly listed funds.
  • Familiarity with rules governing closed-end funds under federal securities laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends.
