Job Overview: A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking an experienced Emerging Company and Venture Capital Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of significant expertise in the field. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing legal counsel to start-ups and emerging growth companies, participating in venture capital financings, public offerings, and domestic mergers and acquisitions transactions.

Duties:

  • Handle legal matters for emerging companies and venture capital clients, including seed and venture capital financings, public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Manage and negotiate transactions using NVCA documents, with a minimum of ten venture financings experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong business sense and proactively manage internal and external client and counsel relationships.
  • Contribute to a premier corporate practice by providing legal expertise and innovative solutions.
  • Communicate complex legal matters concisely and effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • Uphold a commitment to delivering excellent client service and maintaining a high standard of work ethic.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of significant experience in emerging companies and venture capital work.
  • Bar Admission in California.
  • Experience in domestic mergers and acquisitions transactions, particularly for startup companies and investors.
  • Proactive attitude with strong business and legal problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with technology, life sciences, and/or CPG businesses.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar Admission in California.

Skills:

  • Excellent negotiation and transaction management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and take on increased responsibility for transactions.
  • Proficiency in handling premier corporate practice matters.
  • Affinity for or experience in technology, life sciences, and/or CPG industries.

Benefits: The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package, including discretionary bonuses, health/welfare benefits (including parental, adoption, and fertility benefits), flexible time off, and paid holidays.

Although the San Francisco office of this full-service, multi-national juggernaut is known primarily for its large Litigation department, its Business department is growing and, in fact, includes an outstanding International Transactions practice. Despite its size and impressive stature within the legal community, insiders claim the firm maintains a ?small firm? culture ? associates are neither competitive nor pretentious and the firm itself is notoriously not hierarchical. Salaries are competitive (although associates complain the firm will never be the first to raise salaries), and billable hour pressure is manageable.

Your information will not be forwarded to any employers at this time. A recruiter will contact you with more information once our internal review of your resume is completed.
