A law firm in Madison is seeking a skilled and experienced Energy - Project Finance Attorney to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience, a strong background in commercial and transactional work, and a specific interest in energy. The role requires expertise in federal income tax matters, energy tax credits, and government incentive programs. The candidate should also possess transactional experience in representing power producers and investors, particularly in tax equity and leasing structures within the wind, solar, and renewable fuels industries.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and support to clients involved in energy project finance transactions.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to energy projects.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on federal income tax matters, energy tax credits, and government incentive programs.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and legal developments affecting energy project finance.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in commercial and transactional work, with a focus on energy project finance.
  • Should have 2+ years of experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal income tax matters, energy tax credits, and government incentive programs.
  • Transactional experience representing power producers and investors in tax equity and leasing structures within the wind, solar, and renewable fuels industries.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Strong academic background, with a J.D. from an ABA-Accredited Law School.
  • Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-Accredited Law School.

 

Certifications:

Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Legal research and analysis.
  • Contract drafting and review.
  • Negotiation and transactional skills.
  • Knowledge of federal income tax matters.
  • Familiarity with energy tax credits and government incentive programs.
