Job Title: Energy, Environmental, And Infrastructure Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking a mid-level associate to support its thriving Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3-7 years of post-qualification experience handling complex energy transactions and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on involvement in renewable energy deals, project development, and commercial agreements and demonstrate strong analytical and project management skills in a high-performance legal setting.

Duties:

  • Manage and advise on intricate energy and natural resources transactions, including M&A and joint ventures

  • Draft and negotiate project development documents and commercial agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), build-to-transfer contracts, and procurement deals

  • Handle renewable energy project components such as shared facilities agreements, O&M contracts, and construction-related legal instruments

  • Support engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract development for energy generation projects

  • Assist in financing within the energy sector, including both conventional and renewable asset portfolios

  • Provide strategic legal support for oil and gas transactions when required

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on cross-border and cross-sector transactions

  • Prioritize multiple matters efficiently and assume ownership of key workstreams

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of post-JD legal experience in energy, infrastructure, or natural resources transactions

  • Strong foundation in renewable energy deal structuring and negotiation

  • Proficiency in handling sophisticated contract drafting and review under tight timelines

  • The capability to lead work independently and coordinate with senior attorneys and clients

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with a U.S. State Bar (DC Bar membership preferred or eligibility to waive in)

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of transactional energy law and infrastructure project development

  • High-level drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills

  • Familiarity with commercial deal structures and risk allocation in the energy sector

  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional legal and project teams

  • Strong interpersonal communication and client-handling capabilities

  • Technically sound with strong attention to detail and issue-spotting
