Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled Patent Attorney with expertise in AI technologies to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting prior art searches, and providing legal counsel on patent matters related to AI technologies.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to AI technologies.
  • Collaborate with inventors to assess the patentability of new AI technologies.
  • Conduct prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Stay updated on the latest AI technology advancements and patent laws.
  • Liaise with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field involving AI/ML.
  • Experience with AI models, neural networks, and deep learning.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML theory, including backpropagation, regularization, and optimization.
  • Domain experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, natural language processing, wireless communications, computer vision, or related AI fields preferred.
  • Registration to practice with the USPTO.
  • Active membership and good standing with DC Bar or eligibility to waive into the appropriate Bar.
