A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a qualified Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, with other engineering disciplines considered, coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution for medical devices and mechanical engineering technologies.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Provide legal counsel on patent-related matters, including infringement analysis and freedom-to-operate opinions.
  • Conduct patent searches and due diligence investigations.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering; other engineering disciplines with significant patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
  • Superb writing and communication skills.
