Job Title: Lateral Real Estate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Mount Laurel, NJ, is currently seeking a seasoned attorney to manage a broad range of real estate transactions and development matters. This role involves advising both private entities and public sector clients on acquisitions, sales, leases, development agreements, and related legal concerns. Ideal candidates will demonstrate fluency in complex real estate deals, including commercial, industrial, and residential matters, as well as land use, zoning, and condemnation law.

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, and development contracts

  • Handle due diligence such as title, zoning, survey, and environmental review

  • Provide legal guidance to public agencies on acquisitions, leases, redevelopment agreements, and P3 initiatives

  • Advise clients on zoning laws, regulatory issues, and land use concerns

  • Coordinate and lead real estate closings and financing transactions

  • Represent clients in landlord-tenant issues and other real estate-related disputes

  • Support litigation and administrative hearings as necessary, including preparing for court appearances and depositions

  • Work collaboratively with legal teams in areas such as land use, construction, education, and public finance

  • Conduct legal research and prepare comprehensive memoranda on real estate issues

  • Track billable hours accurately and promptly

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of substantive experience in real estate law

  • Admitted to practice in New Jersey and good standing

  • Admission in Pennsylvania and/or New York is advantageous

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and negotiate real estate transactions independently

  • Solid grasp of zoning, condemnation, regulatory compliance, and public contract matters

  • Excellent analytical, drafting, research, and communication skills

  • Adept at juggling multiple client matters with competing deadlines

  • Prior experience with public sector clients is preferred

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in business development initiatives

  • Comfort in client-facing roles and public presentations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New Jersey

  • Additional Bar admissions (PA/NY) are considered a plus

Skills:

  • High-level legal writing and contract drafting proficiency

  • Strong negotiation tactics and issue-spotting ability

  • Ability to work both independently and in team-oriented environments

  • Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills

  • Interpersonal maturity and professional communication
