A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Mid-Level Government Contracts Associate Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of prior legal experience in the field and a demonstrated interest in government contracts law. The ideal candidate should possess strong research, writing, and analytical skills, work independently and creatively, and collaborate effectively in a team environment. Special consideration will be given to applicants with judicial clerkship experience in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or the Court of Federal Claims and those with academic training in government contracts law. Exceptional academic credentials and references are expected, and candidates must either hold a current license to practice law in Washington, D.C., or be eligible to obtain one.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research on government contract issues, regulations, and case law.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and legal memoranda.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on government contract matters.
  • Participate in negotiations, mediations, and dispute resolution related to government contracts.
  • Assist in litigation, if necessary, and work on legal proceedings related to government contracts.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior legal experience in government contracts law.
  • Demonstrated interest and expertise in government contracts law.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
  • Judicial clerkship experience with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or the Court of Federal Claims is a plus.
  • Academic training or coursework in government contracts law is advantageous.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong professional references.
  • Current license to practice law in Washington, D.C., or eligibility to become licensed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Washington, D.C., or eligibility to obtain such a license.
