Job Overview: A law firm specializing in estate planning and elder law is seeking an experienced attorney to join their team in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation and extensive experience in elder law, estate planning, Medicaid planning, and Veteran’s benefits.

Job Duties:

  • Meet and advise clients on various matters, including asset protection, estate planning, powers of attorney, living wills, deeds, Medicaid planning, and Veteran’s Aid & Attendance.
  • Advocate for clients in civil cases related to guardianships, will caveats, tortious interference with inheritance, and other estate planning-related litigation.
  • Conducted legal research, analyzed data, and provided effective legal solutions for client needs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and others through in-person meetings, phone calls, and emails.
  • Assist clients with executing estate planning documents, such as general durable powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, Medicaid, and Veteran’s benefits.
  • Participate in the firm's social media and marketing efforts, including creating video and written content.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited law program and licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
  • 5+ years of experience in civil litigation.
  • 7 years of experience in elder law, estate planning, Medicaid planning, and Veteran’s Aid & Attendance.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research, laws, and regulations related to elder law, Medicaid, Veteran’s benefits, estate planning, and estate and trust administration.

  • Ability to maintain high professional conduct and effectively communicate with clients and colleagues.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage and organize high caseloads.
  • Client service-oriented with the ability to assess client needs, empathize, and deliver quality services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including adeptness in difficult conversations and conflict resolution.
