Job Overview:

A law firm based in Houston, TX, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Development / Finance Counsel. This attorney will specialize in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, providing expert legal advice and support in negotiating and managing EPC contracts and agreements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling complex projects, possess stellar academic credentials, and bring relevant law firm or in-house experience.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on EPC projects, including project finance, procurement, and construction matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate EPC contracts and related agreements.
  • Advise clients on risk management and compliance issues associated with EPC projects.
  • Assist in the development of project financing strategies and structures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success and compliance.
  • Represent the firm and clients in disputes, if necessary, related to EPC projects.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting EPC projects.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Texas State Bar or eligibility for reciprocity.
  • At least 5 years of experience in advising on and negotiating EPC contracts and agreements.
  • Proven track record of working on large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction projects.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Stellar academic credentials, including high academic performance in relevant coursework.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Texas State Bar or ability to obtain admission through reciprocity.

Skills:

  • Expertise in EPC contracts and agreements.
  • Strong understanding of project finance and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal and financial issues.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
