Job Title: Associate Attorney (Litigation)
Job Location: Columbia, SC

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Columbia, SC is looking to expand its team by hiring an Associate Attorney to contribute to their litigation department. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a passion for civil litigation, construction defects, toxic torts, and personal injury cases. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical abilities, excellent research and writing skills, and the capacity to handle a caseload independently. The firm seeks a motivated individual with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and legal briefs.
  • Conduct legal research on various matters.
  • Communicate with clients and opposing counsel to resolve claims and negotiate settlements.
  • Manage a diverse caseload from case initiation to resolution.
  • Provide timely updates and case reports.
  • Collaborate with colleagues during depositions and other court proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably in construction defect, toxic torts, and/or personal injury law.
  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Westlaw, i-Manage, and Juris Suite is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the South Carolina Bar.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
