Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking junior associates with 1 to 4 years of experience to join its Environmental Practice Group. This position involves advising on a wide array of environmental regulatory and transactional matters, including compliance, enforcement, and environmental liabilities associated with corporate restructuring. The ideal candidate brings strong academic credentials and a demonstrated interest in environmental law, with experience in administrative law or litigation considered a plus.

Location:

  • New York City, NY

Duties:

  • Advise clients on federal and state environmental regulatory compliance

  • Assist with enforcement actions involving environmental statutes and regulations

  • Evaluate and manage environmental risks in corporate transactions, including M&A and restructuring

  • Support environmental litigation and administrative proceedings

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and client-facing documents

  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on complex legal matters

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of legal experience, ideally in environmental regulatory law

  • Familiarity with major environmental laws, including CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act

  • Experience with environmental issues in the context of restructuring or litigation preferred

  • Demonstrated interest in administrative and environmental law

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic performance required

  • Law school transcript must be available upon request

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical capabilities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage complex assignments both independently and in team settings

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
