Job Title: Employment Attorney - Advice and Counsel

Job Overview:
A Seattle-based law firm is actively seeking a seasoned legal professional with significant experience in employment law advisory services. The role involves delivering strategic guidance to a diverse client base ranging from early-stage ventures to well-established public sector entities. The ideal candidate will have exceptional drafting abilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive mindset. This is a unique opportunity for attorneys interested in collaborative firm structures with partnership potential.

Duties:

  • Offer ongoing employment law counsel to clients on:

    • Hiring practices, including pay transparency and compliance

    • Leave entitlements and reasonable accommodation obligations

    • Performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations

    • Internal investigations, including planning, oversight, and documentation

    • Drafting and enforcing non-compete and confidentiality agreements

    • Navigating administrative claims and responses (e.g., EEOC, HRC)

    • Policy development and employee handbook creation

    • Wage and hour compliance reviews

    • Preventing and managing issues of harassment, retaliation, and discrimination

    • Advising on multi-jurisdictional employment law issues

    • Structuring executive compensation packages (bonuses, equity, commissions)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of dedicated employment law advisory experience

  • Prior representation of private-sector clients is essential; public-sector experience is a plus

  • Demonstrated skill in managing client relationships and delivering practical legal advice

  • Outstanding written communication and public speaking abilities

  • Enthusiastic, collaborative, and solutions-oriented attitude

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Washington State Bar Association, or eligibility to obtain within a reasonable timeframe

Skills:

  • Precision in legal drafting and document analysis

  • Confidence in advising executives and HR professionals

  • Capability to manage complex, sensitive workplace scenarios with discretion

  • Comfortable navigating evolving employment legislation and compliance requirements
