A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Patent Attorney with 2+ years of experience to support the firm's patent prosecution practice. The candidate will draft patent applications and prosecute applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, specializing in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers.

 

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and prosecute applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Conduct technical research using available resources to support patent-related matters.
  • Work on assignments from multiple partners and clients, meeting and managing internal and client-driven deadlines.
  • Provide technical expertise to assist clients in protecting their technology with patents.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and inventors to develop patent strategies.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience drafting patent applications.
  • Specialization in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, or lasers.
  • Registered to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, strong writing skills, and analytical skills.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.

 

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • If appropriate, licensed to practice law in their respective state.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting scientific and technical patent applications.
  • Technical expertise in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, or lasers.
  • Ability to conduct technical research and analyze complex technical information.
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and inventors.
