Corporate/Employment Counsel

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Corporate/Employment Counsel to join its Corporate Department, with a primary focus on employment and labor matters. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated legal matters across a variety of employment law disciplines and is ideal for candidates with deep experience in employment law compliance and transactional support. The role is open to candidates based in any of the firm’s U.S. offices.

Location:

• New York City, NY

Duties:

• Provide counsel on employment-related compliance including:

  • Worker classification

  • Wage and hour issues

  • Immigration

  • Labor relations (unions and collective bargaining)

  • Employment policies, handbooks, and equal opportunity laws

• Draft employment and separation agreements

• Advise on reductions-in-force and WARN Act compliance

• Counsel on and draft restrictive covenants

• Conduct employment-related due diligence for transactions

• Review and advise on employment representations and covenants in deal documentation

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years of employment law experience

• Previous work at a nationally recognized law firm

• Strong academic and professional track record

• Exceptional legal writing and organizational skills

• Strong focus on collaborative client service

• Admission in good standing (or eligible to waive in) to the bar in the applicable office state

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in good standing or eligibility to waive into the relevant state bar

Skills:

• Deep understanding of U.S. employment law and compliance

• Proficiency in drafting complex legal agreements

• Ability to manage large-scale compliance matters and M&A diligence

• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills

• Strong interpersonal and client-facing communication abilities
