Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Labor Of Counsel Attorney for its San Francisco, CA office. The role focuses on traditional labor relations, providing advice and counsel to employers on federal and California workplace laws. The attorney will engage in various legal activities, including handling unfair labor practice charges and advising on union-related matters.

Duties

  • Represent employers in traditional labor relations matters.
  • Handle unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board.
  • Research and draft legal documents.
  • Advise on union organizing and corporate campaigns.
  • Negotiate and advise on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings.
  • Obtain mass picketing injunctions.
  • Advise on wage and hour issues, leave management, and disability accommodations.
  • Review handbooks, policies, and forms for legal compliance.
  • Conduct management training on labor relations and workplace issues.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Minimum 9 years of litigation or advisory experience as an attorney.
  • Traditional labor experience preferred.
  • Experience in federal and/or California advice and counsel work preferred.
  • CA Bar Admission required.
  • Understanding of current state and federal agency enforcement techniques preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the California Bar.

Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to travel for business purposes.
