A well-established law firm in Houston, Texas is seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney to join its immigration practice. This full-time, in-office role is ideal for a bilingual attorney with a strong foundation in immigration law and a passion for client advocacy. The position offers a dynamic environment involving removal defense, court representation, and legal support for a wide range of immigration matters.

Location

Duties

  • Represent clients before immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Prepare and file affirmative immigration applications with USCIS

  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and statements supporting immigration relief

  • Prepare clients for hearings and provide representation during court appearances

  • Gather and analyze evidence to support cases and applications

  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and next steps

  • Draft appellate briefs and coordinate with relevant agencies

  • Provide legal advice to prospective and current clients

  • Contribute to client intake and case strategy development

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Licensed attorney in good standing in any U.S. state

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a full caseload

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and legal research platforms (e.g., Lexis)

  • Comfortable in a deadline-driven, client-service environment

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Good standing with relevant state bar licensing authority

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities

  • Excellent legal research and drafting skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Proficient in bilingual communication (English and Spanish strongly preferred)

  • Experience in removal defense (preferred)

  • Ability to interact with clients compassionately and professionally
