Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a Mid-Senior Level Associate Attorney to join its Public Finance Practice Group in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated attorney to handle complex public finance matters, including bond transactions, tax-exempt financing, and economic development initiatives. Location:

  • Indianapolis, IN

Duties:

  • Represent municipalities, utilities, and private entities in taxable and tax-exempt financings

  • Draft, review, and negotiate bond documents and related transactional agreements

  • Provide legal counsel on securities compliance and tax-exempt financing structures

  • Advise clients on economic development strategies, including tax abatements and tax increment financing (TIF)

  • Collaborate with attorneys across public law, government services, and land use practices

  • Participate in closings, hearings, and negotiations on behalf of clients

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of legal experience, with a focus on public finance or transactional law

  • Strong working knowledge of municipal bonds, tax-exempt finance, and securities law

  • Proven ability to manage complex deals and meet deadlines independently

  • Prior experience advising public sector clients, including municipalities or public utility entities

  • Team-oriented mindset with a demonstrated commitment to high-quality client service

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Indiana State Bar, or willingness to obtain Indiana licensure promptly

Skills:

  • Legal drafting and negotiation of finance and corporate documents

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear client guidance
