Job Overview: A law firm specializing in intellectual property law is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join their team in Greenville, SC. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of legal experience, focusing on intellectual property (IP) law, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for clients in various industries.
  • Conduct patentability and infringement analyses.
  • Collaborate with inventors, clients, and colleagues to strategize patent portfolio development.
  • Communicate with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) regarding patent applications.
  • Perform legal research and analysis related to patent law and intellectual property issues.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in intellectual property law, specifically drafting and patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
  • Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or similar technologies preferred.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bar licensure in California is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Bar licensure in California is a plus.
