Job Overview:
A Los Angeles-based law firm with a national reputation in labor and employment law, particularly serving the hospitality industry, seeks a mid-level associate to join its dynamic team. This role offers significant client engagement, leadership on litigation matters, and opportunities to develop through mentorship and collaborative team support. The ideal candidate will be experienced in employment litigation, ready to take on first-chair responsibilities, and motivated to work directly with high-profile clients in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.

Duties:

• Oversee full-cycle litigation processes, including:

  • Drafting pleadings and motions

  • Conducting written discovery and depositions

  • Handling oral arguments and trial/arbitration preparation

• Offer proactive legal counsel on employment matters such as:

  • Discrimination, harassment, wage & hour, and workplace policy issues

• Deliver in-person legal training sessions on employment law topics

• Engage in regular collaboration and brainstorming with attorneys across offices

• Maintain strong client communication and strategic advisory relationships

• Operate with a hands-on, self-starter mindset while also working well in a team

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of focused experience in employment litigation

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation matters

• Courtroom and deposition experience, including motions for summary judgment

• Familiarity with California and federal employment laws

• Interest or experience in labor law is a plus

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership qualities

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active and in good standing with the California State Bar

You have never heard of this place probably, but its a solid second-tier firm with about 60 lawyers in two California offices, with San Diego as the home base. The firm bills itself out as full service but really does not have much of a corporate practice. They service small to mid-sized clients in the areas of environmental litigation and regulation, insurance, bad faith and regulatory law, health care, labor and employment, and professional liability and business litigation. It is one of the few firms we know that has a growing amusement park practice (send in the clowns!).
