Job Overview

A law firm seeks a labor and employment attorney with 5-8 years of experience to join its trial and defense practice in Los Angeles. This role involves handling high-exposure matters arising from employment disputes, including discrimination, retaliation, and reasonable accommodation.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload of 10-20 matters.
  • Investigate claims and prepare case handling strategies.
  • Assess complaints in State and Federal court and respond appropriately.
  • Draft and respond to discovery.
  • Review and analyze documents for production.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Draft and submit pleadings and motions.
  • Attend hearings and argue motions.
  • Draft pre-trial and trial documents.
  • Prepare cases for mediation/trial and participate in mediation/trial.
  • Report effectively to clients.

Requirements

  • Labor and employment litigation experience required.
  • Excellent academic credentials from a reputable law school.
  • Admission to the bar in California.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of litigation.
  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills.
  • Effective oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.

Education

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Westlaw.
