Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an experienced Attorney specializing in real estate finance law. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in large law firm practices, demonstrating expertise in handling real estate finance transactions, particularly in loan origination, asset management, and workout experience.

Duties:

  • Handle various real estate finance matters, including large structured commercial transactions.
  • Manage loan origination work for various real estate finance transactions, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity.
  • Oversee asset management and workout processes related to real estate finance matters.
  • Run transactions on behalf of lenders from inception through closing and post-closing, including secondary market repurchase facility work and other exit strategies.

Requirements:

  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in real estate finance law.
  • Previous experience in large law firm environments is preferred.
  • Expertise in handling real estate finance transactions, particularly in loan origination.
  • Familiarity with asset management and workout procedures.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage transactions independently from inception to closing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar.

Certifications:

  • Certification in real estate law is preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in real estate finance law.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
