A law firm is seeking a Tax Controversy Associate Attorney for its office in Raleigh, NC.

Job Overview:

The Tax Controversy Associate Attorney will be responsible for representing clients in tax litigation matters and providing counsel on various tax controversies. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in tax law, litigation experience, and exceptional analytical skills.

Duties:

• Represent clients in tax litigation proceedings.
• Provide legal counsel on tax controversies, including civil and criminal matters.
• Handle whistleblower claims and voluntary offshore disclosures.
• Conduct legal research and analysis related to tax laws and regulations.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Attend hearings, trials, and negotiations on behalf of clients.
• Collaborate with partners and other attorneys on complex cases.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• LLM in Taxation is required.
• Must be licensed to practice law in NC.
• 3-5 years of tax litigation experience.
• Experience in tax court proceedings.
• Knowledge of civil and criminal tax law.
• Familiarity with whistleblower claims and voluntary offshore disclosures.
