A law firm based in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a General Liability Associate Attorney with over three years of civil litigation experience. This position focuses on handling cases related to construction, product liability, premises liability, and auto accidents. The successful candidate will manage all phases of litigation from inception through resolution and must be skilled in research, drafting legal documents, and courtroom representation.

Job Duties:

  • Review case files and conduct legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial legal documents, including briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
  • Achieve a minimum of 1950 billable hours per year.
  • Regularly represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests and manage the retention and collaboration with expert witnesses.
  • Lead trial preparations and attend trials as required.
  • Participate in negotiations and mediation.
  • Travel as necessary to meet the demands of cases and clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience, specifically in construction, product liability, premises liability, or auto.
  • Familiarity with managing civil cases from inception to conclusion.
  • Experience in taking and defending depositions, including 30(b)(6) and expert depositions.
  • Proven ability to draft and argue substantive motions, attend hearings and manage trials.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Admission to practice in New Jersey (NJ) and Pennsylvania (PA); licensure in additional states is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in NJ & PA; additional state admissions desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent litigation and courtroom skills.
  • Proficient in managing multiple cases and able to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills for negotiating and interacting with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Organizational skills for handling large caseloads efficiently.
