A law firm in Irvine is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney to join their team. The candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues across offices and practice groups, providing counsel to clients on a wide range of environmental matters. This position requires strong writing and communication skills, along with expertise in federal and state environmental law and regulations.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on environmental issues related to mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, tax credits, and financing deals.
  • Assist with permitting processes for stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Address emerging contaminants and facilitate renewable energy projects.
  • Handle matters involving the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other relevant federal statutes.
  • Draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and compliance reports.
  • Conduct research on environmental law developments and precedents.
  • Interface directly with clients to understand their needs and objectives.

 

Requirements:

  • Law degree (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Familiarity with federal environmental laws and standards, including CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, CWA, and CAA.
  • Transactional experience in environmental matters.
  • Knowledge of state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with pollution legal liability insurance and defense sites preferred.
  • Portable business preferred.

 

Education:

Law degree (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
