Family Law Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled and motivated Family Law Associate Attorney with 1-5 years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will handle various aspects of family law cases, including discovery, drafting pleadings, court appearances, and legal research. They should possess excellent writing, research, and oral advocacy skills and be able to collaborate effectively with other attorneys while requiring minimal supervision.

Duties:

• Handle discovery processes for family law cases.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents related to family law matters.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings and trials.
• Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and precedents.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to clients regarding family law issues.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on case strategy and client representation.
• Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Illinois State Bar, in good standing.
• 1-5 years of experience practicing family law, preferably in a law firm setting.
• Strong understanding of family law statutes, procedures, and legal principles.
• Proven track record of handling discovery, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in court.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Certification in Family Law from a recognized legal organization or bar association.
