A law firm is seeking a Family Law Litigator for its Chicago, IL location. The Family Law Litigator will be responsible for managing family law cases from start to finish, including dissolutions, allocation of parental responsibilities, paternity, orders of protection, custody litigation, and related financial matters. The ideal candidate will have at least 3+ years of experience in family law litigation and must be licensed to practice law in Illinois. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with clients are essential for this role, with multilingual abilities being a plus.

 

Duties:

  • Handle a caseload of family law matters, including dissolutions, custody disputes, and financial issues.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare for hearings and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing guidance and support throughout the legal process.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and staff to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
  • Stay updated on changes in family law and legal precedents relevant to cases.

 

Requirements:

  • Illinois licensed attorney.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in family law litigation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Multilingual abilities are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Illinois family law statutes and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work efficiently under pressure.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.

  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged situations with empathy and professionalism.
