The law firm is seeking a motivated and skilled Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team in Wilmington. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in patent preparation and prosecution, specifically in electrical engineering or computer science. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, a high level of academic achievement, and admission to the USPTO.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities with a focus on electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Provide legal advice and support on intellectual property matters.
  • Collaborate with clients and inventors to understand and assess their technological innovations.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including patent applications, responses to office actions, and correspondence.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the USPTO.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science.

 

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Solid understanding of patent laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering or computer science concepts.
  • Experience in patent prosecution, particularly in software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and hardware security.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, inventors, and internal teams.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in patent prosecution related to data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and machine learning/artificial intelligence.
  • Industry experience in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Previous work experience in a law firm environment.
