Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a motivated Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of legal experience, particularly in intellectual property law. The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields, with expertise in drafting and patent prosecution. Experience in design engineering, particularly within a chip company, is highly desirable. Candidates with knowledge in networking, software, and wireless networks such as 3G/4G/5G are preferred. Admission to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required, while Bar licensure in California is considered advantageous.

Duties:

  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Providing strategic counseling to clients regarding IP matters.
  • Collaborating with clients and inventors to understand technology innovations.
  • Conducting legal research and drafting legal opinions.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in intellectual property law, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields.
  • Desirable experience in design engineering within a chip company.
  • Knowledge of networking, software, and wireless networks such as 3G/4G/5G is preferred.
  • Admission to the USPTO.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields.
