A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Litigation (Life Sciences) Associate Attorney for their Washington, DC office. The successful candidate will be tasked with handling a variety of intellectual property matters, particularly focusing on patent and/or trade secret litigation within the life sciences sector.

 

Job Overview:

The Mid-Level IP Litigation (Life Sciences) Associate Attorney will play a critical role in managing and representing clients in intellectual property litigation matters, specifically within the life sciences industry. The position requires a strong foundation in law, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting legal research and analysis to support intellectual property litigation cases, with a focus on patents and trade secrets within the life sciences sector.
  • Drafting legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and other pleadings.
  • Assisting with discovery efforts, including document review, deposition preparation, and witness interviews.
  • Providing strategic guidance and counsel to clients on ongoing litigation matters and potential legal risks.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external experts to develop case strategies and tactics.
  • Representing clients in court proceedings, hearings, and alternative dispute resolution forums.

 

Requirements:

  • Admission to a State Bar is required.
  • Strong academic credentials in law and undergraduate coursework.
  • Undergraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Materials Science, Genetics, or Biochemistry is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience with intellectual property matters, including patent and/or trade secret litigation.
  • Excellent leadership skills and a proactive approach to handling client matters.
  • Outstanding research and analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound legal and business knowledge applicable to intellectual property litigation in the life sciences field.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to a State Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative in managing client matters.
