Senior Associate Attorney

A law firm in Garden City is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney with 3+ years of litigation or clerkship experience. The candidate will primarily engage in second-chair work on cases, playing a key role in prosecuting various employment cases. The role involves conducting thorough legal research, drafting legal documents, managing caseloads, preparing and conducting depositions, representing clients in court proceedings, and providing guidance and mentorship to junior associates, paralegals, and support staff. The ideal candidate should have civil litigation experience, be admitted to the New York Bar, and be able to work effectively in a collegial environment.

Duties:

• Second chair work on cases, particularly employment cases
• Conduct thorough legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, and relevant legal authorities
• Communicate with clients, providing updates, answering legal questions, and addressing concerns
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, federal and state complaints, and legal memoranda
• Assist in managing caseloads, organizing and maintaining case files, calendars, and deadlines
• Prepare and conduct depositions, including questioning witnesses and gathering evidence
• Manage the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and conducting document reviews
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, arbitrations, and settlement conferences
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior associates, paralegals, and support staff
• Assist in professional development, review work, and delegate assignments

Requirements:

• 3+ years of litigation or clerkship experience
• Admitted to the New York Bar

Experience:

• Civil litigation experience
• Experience conducting, defending, and preparing for depositions
