Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, seeks a motivated Tax Credit and Impact Finance Associate Attorney with 0-5 years of transactional experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in community development transactions involving new markets tax credits (NMTCs), historic rehabilitation tax credits (HTCs), and/or renewable energy investment tax credits (RETCs). The associate will play a crucial role in supporting the firm's efforts in the field of tax credit and impact finance, contributing to complex transactions and legal strategies.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to advise clients on community development transactions, focusing on NMTCs, HTCs, and RETCs.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to federal income tax laws and regulations applicable to tax credit and impact finance transactions.
  • Draft and review transactional documents, including agreements, contracts, and financing documents.
  • Support commercial real estate matters, commercial lending, and structured finance transactions.

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of transactional experience in a legal setting.
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge in community development transactions, particularly NMTCs, HTCs, and RETCs.
  • Commercial real estate experience, commercial lending experience, structured finance, and/or general federal income tax experience are beneficial.
  • An active license to practice law is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
