The candidate will be involved in drafting ordinances and opinion letters, reviewing service provider contracts, and traveling to and attending pension trustee meetings. The Associate Attorney will play a crucial role in advising fund administrators and trustees, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The position requires a working knowledge of public meetings, public records, and administrative procedure laws. Familiarity with public employee pension and labor laws is considered helpful.

 

Duties:

  • Advise fund administrators and trustees on legal matters related to pension funds.
  • Draft ordinances, opinion letters, and other legal documents.
  • Review service provider contracts for compliance and legal soundness.
  • Attend and participate in pension trustee meetings, including travel as required.
  • Ensure adherence to public meetings, public records, and administrative procedure laws.
  • Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting pension funds.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Florida.
  • Previous experience in advising on pension fund matters.
  • Working knowledge of public meetings, public records, and administrative procedure laws.
  • Familiarity with public employee pension and labor laws (helpful).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
