Job Overview: A law firm in Philadelphia, PA, seeks a highly qualified and motivated Patent Agent to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate should be a registered practitioner before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with a Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, and related disciplines.
  • Conduct intellectual property (IP) due diligence and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to understand and meet their patent-related needs.
  • Stay current on relevant legal and technological developments in intellectual property.

Requirements:

  • Must be a registered practitioner before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Desirable to have prior experience working in a law firm setting.
  • Excellent academic credentials with a strong academic background.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills:

  • Proficient in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting IP due diligence and FTO analyses.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with legal teams and clients.
