Alston & Bird Strengthens REITs Capabilities with Addition of Partner Evan Hudson in New York

Alston & Bird has expanded its Financial Services & Products Group and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) & Funds Team with the addition of partner Evan Hudson in the firm’s New York office. Hudson focuses his corporate and securities practice on listed and non-listed REITs, as well as a range of complex real estate fund products and capital markets transactions.

“We are pleased to welcome Evan, who will collaborate with our clients to execute their most innovative REITs and other complex transactions,” said Rosemarie Thurston, Alston & Bird partner and leader of the firm’s REITs & Funds Team. “As we look ahead to increasing demand for our REITs offerings, Evan presents an important opportunity to build on multiple aspects of our capabilities in the space.”

Hudson has concentrated on the structuring of real estate investment vehicles, including private funds and publicly listed, non-listed, and private REITs. He has advised some of the world’s largest private REITs, successful real estate entrepreneurs, and sophisticated institutional asset managers as they navigate matters involving disclosures, securities, and other corporate and regulatory issues.

In addition, Hudson has helped clients raise billions of dollars through IPOs, follow-on public offerings, and private placements that deliver institutional real estate to individual investors. His experience in the retail alternative investment space encompasses portfolio-diversifying investments such as perpetual-life NAV REITs, lifecycle REITs, “Reg D” products, and Qualified Opportunity Zone Funds.

“Evan brings sharp legal skills, excellent business judgment, and an impressive track record structuring successful REITs and other transactions,” said Mark Kanaly, co-leader of Alston & Bird’s Corporate & Finance Group. “With a shared focus on intellectual rigor and agile client service, his many talents will benefit our corporate practices in New York and beyond.”
