As Benesch continues to add to its roster of top-notch legal talent, the firm is pleased to welcome Of Counsel Kevin Burns to the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group in Cleveland.
Kevin has more than 15 years of experience as an employee benefits attorney. He has vast experience counseling clients on all aspects of employee benefits plans including advising on ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA compliance; designing and implementing qualified retirement plans, 403(b) plans, health and welfare benefit plans, and executive compensation plans. He has counseled private companies, school districts, and non-profits on all aspects of retirement, welfare, and deferred compensation plans, including reviewing and revising administrative service contracts, drafting HIPAA policies and procedures, and conducting fiduciary trainings. Kevin also counsels clients on employee benefits issues that arise in connection with mergers and acquisitions.
He also has extensive experience outside the legal arena, both as a benefits consultant and a small business owner. He is able to assist clients with benefits design issues and well as understand overall business dynamics and how benefit plans can help employers achieve their goals.
Kevin received his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. magna cum laude from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and his B.S. in Transportation & Logistics and Marketing from The Ohio State University.
