Burr Eckstut Joins White & Case as a Partner in New York

Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Technology Transactions Practice and Global Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Practice with the addition of Burr Eckstut as a partner in New York.

"Our Technology Transactions Practice continues to be extremely busy advising on some of the market’s most high-profile, complex technology and IP-driven transactions, and we expect demand in the tech sector to continue to increase,” said Arlene Arin Hahn, Global Head of White & Case's Technology Transactions Practice. "We are thrilled to welcome Burr to the team. His arrival adds substantial capabilities to our team in fintech, technology transactions and tech M&A, and puts us in an excellent position to continue our forward momentum. His deep experience and talent are an ideal fit to further expand our bench of market-leading tech transactions lawyers."

Eckstut has significant experience advising on the full spectrum of technology, data, media and other intellectual property transactions, with particular expertise in fintech matters involving financial market data and technology, crypto assets, digital banking and payments. He also advises on the intellectual property and technology aspects of M&A and other corporate transactions, and is recognized by Chambers for FinTech Legal.

"White & Case has firmly cemented itself as a leading adviser in the fintech industry, having been ranked Band One by Chambers Fintech Legal: USA for Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies in 2021, and having acted in many of the most significant payments, blockchain and banking matters across the globe in recent years," said Prat Vallabhaneni, a partner in White & Case's Fintech Interest Group. "Burr's arrival reinforces our established platform in this area, and his sophisticated understanding of the complex legal issues at the intersection of technology and financial services, particularly around data and financial markets infrastructure, will add further bench strength to our cutting edge and global fintech group."

John Reiss, Head of White & Case’s Global M&A Practice added: "With technology M&A continuing to be one of the most active sectors of the market, the addition of Burr further strengthens our preeminent Global M&A Practice, and underscores our commitment to a world-class technology transactions capability in the US. We’re confident that Burr’s strong experience across the full spectrum of technology transactions will bring considerable benefits to our clients."

Eckstut joins White & Case from Covington & Burling, where he was co-chair of its Fintech Initiative. Prior to that, he was the legal department chief of staff and corporate counsel at Bloomberg L.P.
