Spencer Fane Announces Expansion of Growing Utilities Practice

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce utilities lawyers Catherine J. Webking and Eleanor D’Ambrosio as new members of the firm’s Austin office. This continues the expansion of the firm’s utilities team, with the addition of highly skilled attorneys focused on serving clients across industries.

Webking will lead the Spencer Fane Utilities Industry Team from the firm’s Austin, Texas office. She is a well-respected attorney with an outstanding track record representing market participants in their successful pursuits within the competitive utility markets. Webking brings with her Eleanor D’Ambrosio, whose regulatory and policy experience is a tremendous complement to the practice. The firm previously announced the addition of Cody Faulk and Rashmin Asher who also possess a depth of experience navigating the complexities of utility law. Augmented by the multiple attorneys at the firm with roots and experience in utility-related industries, Spencer Fane is positioned to offer strategic advocacy to key market participants in the complex areas of electric, water, telecommunications, natural gas markets, and municipal utilities.

“Catherine and Eleanor maximize their clients’ success by combining technical and business approaches to recognize opportunities and resolve regulatory impediments,” said Bill Hopkins, Office Managing Partner for Spencer Fane in Austin. “We are enthusiastic that with these recent additions, we are poised to serve clients regarding all aspects of utilities and provide high-level, comprehensive, and responsive legal services in this area. These attorneys fill that need while also fitting well with our firm’s culture and collaborative approach to complex matters.”

“We are fortunate to join the exceptional attorneys at Spencer Fane to add dimensions that can strengthen the service we provide to existing clients and facilitate welcoming new ones to the practice,” said Webking. “Competitive and innovative options in utility markets benefit the whole of society and bring economic development to the communities that embrace these new technologies. I enjoy working with clients in this practice area because efficient and effective utility services are essential for all residents and businesses.”

D’Ambrosio brings a strong body of work dedicated to public policy, first in the Texas Legislature and later in state agencies. Her experience as an attorney with the Public Utility Commission of Texas, most recently as Deputy Director of the Legal Division, gives her a unique perspective on the regulatory landscape, including the interests and challenges facing Texas utilities.
