Greenberg Traurig Expands Real Estate Practice with Shareholder Alison Weinberg-Fahey

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues  expanding its industry-leading West Coast Real Estate team with the addition of Shareholder Alison R. Weinberg-Fahey to the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Weinberg-Fahey’s real estate practice focuses on the purchase and sale of commercial properties across core and emerging asset classes, representing property owners, developers, tenants, lenders, and investors. She has regularly advised hospital systems and corporate entities on real estate issues and leads real estate aspects of mergers and acquisitions deals, renewable energy, and clean technology financing projects.

“Alison’s skillset and fluency with financial information and analysis of real estate opportunities will be a vital asset for our clients, particularly in connection with real estate acquisition, disposition, and leasing transactions,” said Michael H. Davis and Garin T. Muranaka, co-chairs of the firm’s Los Angeles Real Estate practice. “One of Alison’s greatest strengths is the strong relationships she builds with clients. She takes a comprehensive approach to representing clients; examining deals from all sides.”

Weinberg-Fahey was previously a partner at Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP in the real estate practice and her previous legal experience includes serving as associate general counsel for a boutique investment bank that specialized in municipal finance. Prior to starting her legal career, Weinberg-Fahey worked as an auditor at a major accounting firm and was a licensed certified public accountant in New York; she is currently a licensed real estate broker in California.

“With her extensive and diverse real estate experience, combined with a well-rounded business background, Alison is in a great position to understand the legal issues that are critical to our clients’ real estate operations and can help craft solutions to meet those needs,” said Gregory A. Fishman, co-managing shareholder of the Los Angeles office.

Weinberg-Fahey joins a global real estate team that grew by a net total of 50 attorneys last year – including Theresa S. Clark in Atlanta and Elizabeth Dominguez Yaeger in Washington, D.C. – as the firm further builds its real estate practice to meet client demand in key markets around the world. Weinberg-Fahey has been practicing law for almost a decade and in that time has handled more than 500 transactions with an aggregate amount over $3 billion.

“I’ve been consistently impressed with the freedom that Greenberg Traurig shareholders have to manage their own practices with a focus on client service,” Weinberg-Fahey said. “I’ve felt so welcomed by everyone here. The people with whom you work are critically important to how you thrive within an environment and I am excited to be joining such a strong and ambitious team.”

She is actively involved in the Los Angeles chapter of the Urban Land Institute, where she participates in initiatives designed to foster the growth of women’s careers within the real estate industry. Weinberg-Fahey received her J.D., with Honors, from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law, and a B.Comm., with Great Distinction, from McGill University.
