Nelson Mullins Welcomes Michael Winter to its D.C. Office

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is pleased to announce that Michael Winter has joined the firm in Washington, D.C. as of counsel.

Winter focuses on affordable housing, representing local and regional developers, lenders, and bond issuers. He has served as bond and underwriter counsel for a variety of multifamily housing transactions in both rural and urban areas. As a former counsel with the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency, he has experience structuring single-family and traditional and innovative multifamily housing revenue bond transactions, including transactions credit-enhanced under HUD’s Risk-Share Program and by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as unrated, unenhanced direct placement bonds and tax-exempt loans.

In addition to working at other law firms, Winter served in multiple positions at the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency from 2001–2018. He earned his JD from Duke University School of Law, an AB in Political Science and Afro-American Studies, cum laude, from Duke, and studied abroad at Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany.
