Akerman Expands Chicago Office with Bankruptcy and Reorganization Partner Paul Musser

Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP is pleased to announce that it has expanded its Chicago office with Paul Musser who joins as a partner in the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice Group. Musser focuses his practice on helping lenders to maximize their recovery through out-of-court workouts and in-court proceedings. Chicago is one of Akerman’s largest markets.

Musser counsels creditors in bankruptcies, receiverships, fraudulent transfer actions and commercial foreclosures, and helps his clients navigate distressed asset and business sales and acquisitions. Musser’s diverse experience in both transactional and litigation matters involving middle-market loans informs a drive for practical, cost-effective solutions.

Musser regularly represents senior secured institutional lenders, alternative lending institutions, administrative agents, and bank groups with distressed middle-market loans and often in the context of leveraged buyouts. He also represents corporate debtors pursuing wholesale restructuring, buyers looking to acquire distressed assets and businesses, receivers, trustees, and the FDIC. Musser’s experience spans various industries, including healthcare, real estate, financial services, retail, and franchising.

Musser also maintains an active pro bono practice, which has included partnerships with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic and the National Immigrant Justice Center in successfully representing asylum applicants from Zimbabwe and Honduras.
